Expecting your Google Verification PIN to verify your local business on Google My Business (Previouslt Google Plus Page)?
If you have verified your business before through Google, you may be familiar with the postcard they send in order to verify your location for your local business. Within the past few months, Google has changed the look of the verification postcard to be an actual letter.
Once you request your local business to be verified, you will receive a letter in the mail from Google Headquarters within 7 days (we have seen in rare cases that it took 30 days). We have seen the average time to receive a postcard to be as low as 4 business days.
How To Verify Your Google Business Page Once You Received Your Google Postcard?
1- Login to Google using the same account you had registered your business page
2- Visit: https://business.google.com/locations
3- Find the location you need to verify
4- Click on Get Verified
Why do I need to verify my business?
If your page is new (doesn’t exist on Google Map) then without verification, your Google Business page will not appear. If the page is on the map and you are claiming (verifying it) your changes will not be published until you verify the page. This way Google knows that you are the new owner of the page and publishes your changes on the Google page.
Please note that even if you do not have changes to be published it always makes sense to claim and verify your Google business page to avoid wrong information gets published on your page without your approval or others don’t claim your page and sabotage your business.
What if I did not receive the postcard in 30 days?
Google will let you re-try the same process after a few weeks. Make sure this time the address shown on the preview is accurate.
